The Cribs to release two new albums in 2014

Shortly after announcing the band was on hiatus, The Cribs revealed they will be releasing two new albums early this year. "There's one that's going to be really noisy and visceral and immediate, and one that's gonna be more pop," Gary Jarman, the band's bassist, told NME. There is no official release date for the albums, but Jarman said the group has been busily writing for the past month and expects the albums to drop early this year. The Cribs to release singles album, 'Payola,' in February 2013

THE CRIBS, who just wrapped up a year touring behind their sixth studio album, 2012's In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull, have announced they will release a singles album, Payola, in February of this year.  The album features 22 of the band's previously released singles and rare and hard to find songs.  It also includes a brand new track, "Leather Jacket Love Song,"  which was recorded with Edwyn Collins (The New Fellas) in the interim between Ignore The Ignorant and In the Belly of the Brazen Bull while the band were grounded in the UK due to the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud.  It is the final complete Cribs track to feature ex-member Johnny Marr contributing his guitar playing.  Ryan finished the track in October 2010 but the decision was made shortly afterwards not to release it, following Johnny's departure at the end of the year.  With writing sessions for In the Belly of the Brazen Bull starting shortly afterwards, the song was shelved and not really thought of again until being spontaneously played live, where it quickly became a fan favourite after a bootleg recording was shared online. Of the song, Ryan said: "I always really loved Leather Jacket Love Song and liked the idea of keeping it to ourselves really. With Payola coming out though and the 10 year anniversary this year, now just feels like the right time to release it I think".

A deluxe version of the album, the "Anthology Edition," will include an 18-song bonus disc featuring b-sides and rarities and will span all of the band's released singles.  Payola will be out February 25th on Wichita Recordings.
