Fenway Recordings is excited to announce that it will be starting off 2011 with a new DJ night at the ACE Hotel NYC. Expanding on the idea behind the Fenway Recordings Sessions, a Boston concert series that has been bringing the best new live music to the city since 2004, Fenway Recordings Sessions NY will feature DJ sets from some of New York’s best indie bands. The series will be highlighted by friends and family and include sets from bands that have at one point played a Fenway Recordings Session in Boston. Kicking things off tomorrow night (Jan. 4) with DJ sets from Mark of VHS or Beta, the series continues every Tuesday night in January, from 8pm-midnight, in the Lobby of the ACE Hotel NY. Stick around next Tuesday, Jan. 11 when the party continues downstairs at the ACE Hotel’s Liberty Hall. Admission each night is free, 21+.

Fenway Recordings has confirmed their #112 Session with artist Lyrics Born, on February 4th at Brighton Music Hall in Allston, MA.  Tickets are $15 and can be purchased on 12/11 here. Doors open at 8PM and the show starts at 9PM.

Lyrics Born (born Tsutomu “Tom” Shimura) is a Japanese American rapper.  He is one half of the group Latryx with Lateef the Truthspeaker.  Lyrics Born has just released a full length album titled ‘As U Were’.  You can get more information on Lyrics Born here.

Fenway Recording Sessions #111 has just been announced. The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger, Sean Lennon’s most recent musical project with his girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl, will take the stage at Great Scott on January 6th. Tickets are available here beginning November 11th at 10AM.

The Boston Phoenix’s article titled, “Dando and Hatfield rekindle a musical courtship” covers Juliana & Evan’s musical past together, and outlines their careers as successful solo artists.  The article goes on to mention how both musicians inspired each other in the start of their careers and are now re-kindling the artistic process by hitting the road for this current “mini-tour”.  Their Nov. 1st show at Great Scott is currently sold out, but tickets are still available for their Nov. 2nd show here.  I suggest you get your tickets as soon as possible because you never know if this duo will couple up on stage again any time soon.

Holly Golightly and her long-time upright bass player Lawyer Dave perform as Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs for the Fenway Recordings Sessions’ 111th show.   Known for her work with The White Stripes, The Greenhornes and Thee Headcoatees and many others, Golightly will hit Great Scott in Allston on Wednesday, Dec. 8th.  Doors open at 9pm and resident DJ Carbo spins between sets.

The Fenway Recordings Sessions continues this fall with Juliana and Evan on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010.  Boston rock icons Juliana Hatfield and Evan Dando (The Lemonheads) will perform together at Great Scott for Sessions #108. DJ Carbo will spin between sets.

Spinner.com has profiled Jarrod Gorbel’s solo act, focusing on the challenges and opportunities of going solo, as well as Gorbel’s upcoming album Devil’s Made a New Friend. The article, found in full here, puts Gorbel’s separation from The Honorary Title moniker into a musical perspective, “Gorbel’s new, mostly-acoustic offerings won’t garner any punk comparisons — his lush folk tunes are singer-songwriter fare through and through.”
