Mark Kates established Fenway Recordings in 2001 as a home for great music in an environment that necessitated saying so.  A new model music company, Fenway fed on the fertile musical environment of Boston, which is and always has been one of the top music cities in the United States.  During its tenure, from 2001-2006,  Fenway released three compilations and seven artist releases, as well as Guster’s “Keep It Together” on vinyl.  The in our lifetime compilation series, which was praised from Boston to Rolling Stone, featured artists like My Morning Jacket, Ash, Cave In, Ben Kweller, and the Dropkick Murphys. The artist releases included albums from consonant and The Kickovers and EP’s from Read Yellow, The Love Scene, State Radio and Longwave, which was released in conjunction with RCA Records Group.  Fenway Recordings was distributed in the United States by Alternative Distribution Alliance and in the United Kingdom by Pinnacle.
